Having resisted against this type of relaxation in favor of sightseeing trips for so many years, I think it took learning how to actually relax before I recognized that “trip balance” is so important. I now make it a priority to discern what my body and mind need and then I plan accordingly. Am I yearning for peace or adventure?
And, just because your beach vacation is supposed to be relaxing, doesn’t always mean it’s a seamless transition. It might take a couple of days to get into vacation mode.

The beach inspires and motivates. It allows you to ponder upon the meaning on life, think through your problems or simply sit with a loved one and reflect. Families bond after a hectic work and school life and enjoy simple pleasures like building sandcastles and eating cooling ice cream. Lovers stroll hand in hand along a deserted shore as the sunsets. A lone fisherman sets sail on a small boat to find the early morning catch.

Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.

When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
